Flowers that matched sprung up the other day!

The house I bought was generally in good shape with most stuff upgraded or replaced within the last five years.

I got a great deal and didn't have to fix up hardly anything at all. Rumor has it that the guy living here was a landscaper, which explains all the fantastic flowerbeds and the little patio out back.

I stopped updating My Cute Little House's blog because I didn't like my living room and I struggled to figure out how to make it work.

I expected this blog would be a great place to chronicle my adventures and experiences living in my cute little house, but so far it's all gone pretty smoothly.

There wasn't a lot in the way of mishaps and misadventures once I got moved in. I sold my old furniture and got some that fit this space and now it seems exactly right.

My windows, which are all odd sizes, were all already outfitted with lovely new replacement windows and custom blinds before I got here. Which was a selling point. But now that I live here, these blinds are terrible.

I mean they're nice if you like blinds but I like sunlight coming in in the morning. I knew going in that this house wasn't perfect.

Because it's so small, there wasnt a lot of money to be made by selling it, so they just fixed it up quick and dirty to look pretty.

Not a lot needed to be done to make it liveable, but there's plenty to do if you want to fix up stuff.

Brought everything but the kitchen stuff over. Mostly because the kitchen is where I was putting all the electronics while we moved the furniture in.

So now the TV is hooked back up and it turns out there's a huge amount of room in my walk-in closet. Which is great because I have a huge amount of clothes. My patio was covered in moss and weeds. I'm terrified of yard work but I felt like maybe this was a project I could handle myself.

I googled it to find out and came up with this helpful video from this guy telling me all I need is a stiff push broom and some oxy-clean.

Today was a nice day and I don't have any other projects on the table at the moment so I set about cleaning my patio.

I like flamingos. But this is not my yard.

It made good financial sense to buy when I did. Problems in the economy are driving home prices lower, interest rates lower, and since the stock market is swinging wildly from day to day, it seems that putting money into a house isn't a terrible place for it. Afterall, you can live in a house.

Unlike most of the people of America, I prefer to take baths at night than showers in the morning. 

For me, standing under running water first thing in the morning is some cruel form of torture. When I want to get clean, I want to take my time and soak in a tub.

It's even better if that tub is in a roomy and beautiful bathroom.

The seller kept it nice till I made an offer.

My lawn is out of control. And I don't have a lawnmower. Or time to buy one. Or learn what to do with it.

I hired a service to mow my lawn at least for now but its been raining so my lawn is still not mowed and its getting close two months now. 

I'm starting to believe there is no grass and it's actually all just weeds.

Got the carpet installed today after a major/minor freak-out yesterday when I noticed on the paperwork that the color carpet I picked is called "Airy Blue".

I love the color but I'm not crazy about the idea of living with painted wood floors. Part of the expense of the house, as I saw it, was getting some carpet for the rooms that need it.

The house is small and the rooms are small, so things that could be major expenses for bigger houses just don't cost that much to do here.

before I move into the house properly, even though I bought a good house that didn't need much work done to it. Since the house I bought was a lot cheaper than anything I'd originally intended to buy, I ended up with spare cash on hand for things like carpet and living room furniture.

It's only just small but along with that came a small price tag and a small interest rate which makes it cheaper than my current rent.


It's in great shape with lots of great updates and built-in storage, which is important in a small space. Not much to do besides move in and then blog it.
